There is extensive evidence on issues of child poverty, climate risk and conflict. However, research often treats these issues separately, while in reality many children do not only face one issue or another in isolation. Our analysis shows the overlapping risks of poverty, climate and conflict for children on a global scale. It allows us to quantify the number of children affected by any combination of these adverse impacts and builds a foundation to further analyse the complex interaction between them. Using national averages would hide significant subnational inequalities in poverty, climate risk or conflict. For instance, while some parts of a country might be at high climate risk, they may or may not be the areas that have high poverty rates. For this reason, we brought our global analysis to a subnational level (in most countries the first administrative level), effectively dividing the world into 2,005 regions.
